"Stories of Hope: Creating spaces of encounter with refugees"

The School Outreach Programme is a vital part of JRS Malta's awareness raising activities. The programme is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education.

"Stories of Hope: Creating spaces of encounter with refugees" is the name of the JRS school outreach programme for 2016. 

  • Venue: St Joseph's Home, St Joseph's High Road, Sta Venera 
  • Dates: 4th, 7th,11th, 14th, 18th, 21st, 25th, 28th April 2016

The activities will cater primarily for Year 5 and Year 6 students and will take place between 9:15 am and 1:30 pm for a maximum of 100 children per activity day. 

The programme of activites will include:

  • A 45-minute play, based on JRS publication Kidane: A story of Hope, performed by Malcolm Galea and Joseph Zammit from More or Less Theatre and a refugee actor; Every child will receive a copy of the Kidane publication at the end of the event;
  • An interactive session on Human Rights and Diversity;
  • A personal testimony of a refugee sharing his/her experience (in smaller groups);
  • Creativity workshops during which students will reflect on the stories shared by refugees (in smaller groups).
