JRS footballers on a roll!

During the last month the JRS football team, made up of young men from the African continent, all asylum seekers,  managed to play three friendly games with local teams. There were from Marsaskala, Birkirkara (both are third division, under 17-teen), and Sliema (second division).

The team claimed victory for the first two games and did not lose their motivation following a win by the Sliema team. The coming moth will bring another opportunity to
challenge thier skills on the ground.

The coordinator of the tournament, Jaroslaw Mikuczewski SJ, a Polish Jesuit currently serving with JRS Malta, says that encounters on the field are 'a great opportunity for Maltese football players to meet with refugees and asylum seekers and share in a common spirit of sport and friendship.'
